Ekaterina Vargina, born in 1963, is an assistant professor at St.Petersburg State University (the Department of Philology). Fields of interest – sociolinguistics, rhetoric, text linguistics. In 2005 she defended doctoral dissertation Scientific Text: Impact Function.
Ekaterina Varguina has participated in the work of a number of democratic and human rights public organizations, was a member of the executive body of Leningrad (St.Petersburg) Popular Front, worked in local self-government. Now she continues human rights and anti-war activity.
Ekaterina Varguina lives in Vyborgsky district of St. Petersburg.
